Create an itinerary to help ease anxiety, including break times and quiet spaces. Share the plan with everyone so they know what to expect, but give yourself room to adjust if something isn’t working. Make note of potential changes, delays and other things that *might* happen and how to handle.
Hi, I’m Avery!
I created this website with my mom to inspire other neurodivergent families to keep trying when it comes to new adventures and to share my experiences so that I can show you some great places!

Tips for traveling with autism
Plan Ahead, but Stay Flexible
01
Prepare Sensory-Friendly Tools
Pack any items that comfort you! This goes for the family members as well (maybe it’s a coffee!) Noise-canceling headphones, weighted blankets, fidget toys, or other sensory supports.
02
Start Small and Build Up
If big trips feel overwhelming, begin with shorter day trips or local outings. Gradually increase the distance and complexity of your adventures as everyone gets more comfortable.
03
Research in Advance
Check out our blog for autism-friendly destinations, hotels with quiet rooms, and restaurants with flexible seating arrangements. Contact places ahead of time to ask about their amenities, ensuring a smoother experience.
04
Make it fun
Look for pictures, maps, or short videos of the destination. Giving a sense of control and familiarity often reduces anxiety and boosts excitement. We like to create scavenger hunts or checklists for adventures to keep engaged during the trip!
05
Shop My Favorite Items
From sleep masks to weighted plushies, breathing pals, and everyday wellness tools — we’ve tried a lot of gear over the years. And we’re sharing only the ones that have truly helped us thrive at home, on the road, and everywhere in between.
Every item in the Avery Approved Shop is handpicked based on real-life use in our family. We know that sensory needs, routines, and preferences vary widely across the spectrum, so we aim to offer a wide range of products to support travel, wellness, comfort, and regulation.
Profits from our webstore go to funding Neurodivergent Navigators, our nonprofit dedicated to helping other families fund their own adventures and growth.
Everything we sell on our shop is something we truly use and love.
Messages that make my day!
We love to follow along!
So much fun following along on your adventures, Avery! Thanks for sharing!
